The Tykarian Connection

Posted on 06/28/2020 @ 11:32pm by Fleet Admiral Cerywyn

Mission: The Black Planet Rises
Location: Fleet Commander's Briefing Room, Space Station Cyrga, Delta Quadrant
Timeline: SD 242006.21

Grace had closed down the outer office and locked the door behind her. Korin 'Sa was still with the legion and the Admiral had walked into her briefing room just before Grace left. Now that the area was secure, Grace paused. Actually, there was still something to do. She sat down and wrote herself a note to contact the CSEC officer regarding a security detail for the Admiral. The Admiral usually didn't approve and she doubt she would now, but still - she was after all who she was and a security detail would not be remiss. That done, Grace exited with the doors closing silently behind her.

Cerywyn sat down at the head of the table, tapped in her command codes. A moment later a small screen rose from the table. She input the sequence for an encrypted communication and waited. She didn't have to wait long.

"Good evening, Lord Kellan. I think it's time we talked, don't you?"

Kellan inclined his head slightly. "My uncle would be disappointed if we did not."

Cerywyn nodded. "I thought I recognized the lineage. Your earlier transmission was a bit . . . lackluster. We're on a secure link now and it's encrypted. Want to fill me in?"

Kellan had sat down in the chair behind him and leaned back. "You might want to get some tea. This could take a while." She chuckled. "I'm already ahead of you" she quipped back.

"Good. Well, let's start with first things first. What are *you* doing here?"

She shook head slightly. "I don't know. I assure you, this is the last place I thought I'd be. But, in short answer, I'm re-establishing the somewhat lackluster Starfleet presence here. The Legion is going to be assisting me in doing so."

"You've got your work cut out for you then. We've been doing what we can, but factions that never liked the Fleet's presence in the first place have enjoyed that lackluster presence. There are hot spots all over the place."

She frowned. "I was afraid of that. Starfleet ships have been reassigned to my command - In addition to the ones that came with me. . ."

Kellan interupted her. "Are you sure you're not going to tell me...."

Cerywyn pursed her lips and furrowed her brow. "Kellan, if I knew, I'd gladly tell you. The short version is I activated a chain of events in the Beta Quadrant to rid us once and for all of the OMEGA group. With the help of those ships that arrived when I did, here. We all expected a far different outcome. A one way trip so to speak." She shook her head. "Instead, we end up HERE and NOW..."

Kellan sensed the truth behind her words and the frustration. He held up his hand. "Stop. My uncle trusts you, so must I. You needn't explain. I'll make sure the others know."

Cerywyn inclined her head slightly. "Thank you."

"As to your question" replied Kellan smoothly "Everyone has been flexing their muscles in one way or another. At present however and of more immediate concern - are the Klael. They need room to expand and they've been taking it. I don't have to tell you how brutal they can be. I can't confirm it, but we've heard reports that some of the smaller non-aligned planets close to the rim of Klae space have gone dark. No response to hails; no traffic to and from." Kellan tapped his console and sent the Admiral the details he did have. She looked at the information as it came in and frowned. "That's not good at all...."

Kellan shook his head. "No, it's not. As you can see, Captain Tanner's little foray into Klae space piqued their interest. When we pulled her out of there, we used the time to do a quick scan. There is most definitely increased activity in their space. Passive scans show that if they pushed a full frontal assault. . ." his voice trailed off.

Cerywyn's face grew grim and stern "Then we'll have to ensure they don't get that chance. I don't suppose..."

Kellan shook his head. "You know the answer already. You also know I'm already back inside Tykarian space. I only ventured out to ensure that stupid woman didn't precipitate events. What are your plans?"

"We're going to build a fleet" Cerywyn replied grimly.
